The research question addressed in this project is: What training model was effective for training purpose?  This model was evaluated by three Taiwanese professors and three Taiwanese pastors.  This project involves two areas: (1) training strategies and (2) training contents.  The training strategies utilize Joyce's training model, which includes: demonstration, simulated practice, simulated environments, small groups, technology, and individual instruction. This project surveys nine new church developments in various stages of congregational development.  With so many techniques available for establishing new churches, the function and efficacy of preaching and its impact on the character development of new churches is examined.  An online survey filled out by pastors and lay leadership sought to determine the perceived relationship between preaching and certain missional practices in the new churches. It explores a number of key women in the New Testament, the developmental theories of Carol Gilligan, and ten sermons by Anglican/Episcopalian women priests.  The thesis then examines homiletics curricula at four Anglican colleges in Canada. A high rate of pastoral turnover and geographic isolation necessitate the training of lay preachers to meet this need.  Lay preachers can be effective if they understand the communication patterns of the traditional/oral listeners who occupy these pews.  This project equipped a group of laymen from a large urban church to preach in the small rural churches of Oklahoma.  The laymen were trained to understand and appreciate biblical narrative.  they learned basic storytelling skills.  They worked to construct and deliver sermons that respected the traditional/oral communication keys of stories, relationships, and proverbial sayings. I used the preaching techniques of lived experience and narrative preaching, based on the theology of the cross. I contend that the common experience shared by African-American women and the rhetorical and literary traditions from which they arise bind them together as preachers, establishing a Womanist homiletical tradition.  My analysis of sermons included 46 sermons in manuscript form, on audio tape and some on videotape, preached by African-American women from a broad spectrum of denominations and geographical areas. It also describes a way for preachers to adopt actions to aid in preaching them.  Story sermons have become a vitally important way to communicate the Word of God in the author's local congregation in southwest Idaho.  The paper traces a shift of attitude toward a more experiential and diverse quality of perception.  The author searches to see if there are ways of preparing, preaching, and evaluating storied sermons that are more in line with the storied experience.  The actions or phases of internalization, interaction, deeper connections, and story creation emerge as effective ways of approaching this task.  These actions are fluid practices that a preacher can move between in the process of sermon creation.
