The project defines and demonstrates the context and content of therapeutic preaching, providing four therapeutic sermons as examples. Listeners help define what makes these sermons helpful. Based on research in Psalms scholarship, poetics, speech, homiletics, and theology, the project devises preaching strategies appropriate to the genre in order to prepare, present, and evaluate response to five propositional and five genre-sensitive sermons. Based on research that brought together three manifestations of the Law and Gospel paradigm and American individualism, the project prepares four sermons that illustrate the use of the paradigm in preaching to individualism. Focus groups provide critical responses to each sermon. Applying criteria for authentic expository preaching derived from biblical and current literature to 14 sample sermons prepared by seven Korean Seventh-day Adventist preachers, the project determines that only two of these sermons are expository. Proclamation of law exposes the hearer's sinfulness and need of a Savior.  Proclamation of gospel reveals Jesus as Savior, offering forgiveness and salvation to all who believe.
