The author of this paper argues that preaching can be a catalyst for moving a congregation from fear to joy. Preachers have the opportunity to proclaim the Word of God so that through the power of the Holy Spirit transformation occurs and faith is deepened. The project director researched the field of expository preaching in a multigenerational worship context. He conducted a generational demographic study of the congregation. He developed and delivered a series of expository sermons. To ensure improvement in expository preaching skills the project director submitted both poutlines and videos of sermon deliveries to experts in the fields of expository preaching and multigenerational worship for analysis. The researcher conducted a literature review of homileticians, public speaking experts, and Bible commentators to investigate the problem of PSA and what can be done about it. Additionally, qualitative research was conducted in which the researcher interviewed experienced preachers who have suffered the symptoms of PSA and have experienced improvement in their condition. The purpose of this study was to explore how preachers use evaluation for understanding how pastoral relationships influence preaching. The study followed a qualitative research method, utilizing semi-structured interviews with six pastors, analyzed in a constant comparative method. The research explored perceptions of the pastoral relationship, evaluation, emotional intelligence, and ongoing sermon preparation. This report establishes the rationale for alternatives, summarizes lectionary history, lists and evaluates alternates, and provides two of the author's own lectionaries, Route 66, which explores a non-RCL passage in each book of the Bible, and the Progressive Dinner Lectionary, which highlights table scenes in the Bible. Pastors need to integrate preaching into their own Christian discipleship in order for preaching to have an impact on their congregation. Through this project I propose that preaching can enhance the Christian discipleship of the pastor through the use of Incarnational Exegesis, EPIC, Authentic and Integrated Preaching. While personal experience has become a contested concept in homiletical conversation, Florence's project draws on post structuralist insights to make effective and ethical use of the preacher's personal experience in engaging with and then speaking from Scripture. This project explores the impact of a series of testimony sermons on a congregation composed of many self-identified 'religious liberals.'
