A history of Lancaster Presbyterian Church is recorded and health indicators affirmed while the need for ongoing revitalization is embraced. The question is examined with respect to biblical, historical and theological implications of union with Christ. This doctrine is placed at the heart of revitalization and considered in response to manifestations of sin in postmodernism, narcissism, materialism and consumerism. The project consisted of intentional education, research and analysis of the intersections of evangelism, Family Systems Theory, Reformed theology, cultural exegesis, and Christian missiology, and used these understandings to explore and analyze growing Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregations in the American West. The author contends that the art of storytelling offers the mainline church an alternative approach for that practice. The author taught a course on storytelling at Alamance Presbyterian Church. Following the course, each participant agreed to seek opportunities to share their faith narratively outside their congregational context. Participants reported their activity at a closing session and in a written survey.
