This project has four parts: a critique of the history, theology, and education methodology of Cursillo; a narrative of the Cursillo retreat; a manual, in the reformed tradition, for conducting the retreat among Presbyterians; and an evaluation by Episcopal and Presbyterian clergy. This paper documents a historical process toward partnership at work within Presbyterian leadership and an impasse which now blocks its forward movement.  It develops a practical theology for ecclesial leadership by utilizing Daniel Day Wiliams' interpretation of the imago dei as the will to belong and Edwin H.
