Bosch's reading of the Gospel of Matthew, in dialogue with the Committee on Evangelism and Church Development of the Presbytery of Tampa Bay, in the hope to visualize from a theological perspective the contribution that immigrant groups can bring to the mainline traditions. This project reviews the care needed and received by ministers experiencing a forced resignation and presbytery's provision of care during such an event.  The emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial dynamics of a minister experiencing a forced resignation are explored. The pastoral care provided by a presbytery for its member-ministers during such a trauma is examined in light of a model of pastoral support developed by Lloyd Rediger. This project addresses this reality by engaging the congregations' children in a practice of encounter.  The children of Hill United Methodist Church dislocated among the children of Ubuntu (PCUSA) in order to resist the domination system's forces of isolation, division and diversion. Even survivors who expected the death suffer and do not know how to deal with it. The death of their loved one demands they deal with the experience of death whether they want to or not. Many Korean-American pastors and congregations would like to comfort them but may not know how. Korean-American survivors may even be ignored by their pastors and churches. As a Korean-American chaplain, even I sometimes feel challenged to know how to care for them. I would like to see Korean-American people cared for by Korean-American congregations. But I also want Korean-Americans to be cared for by other Christians. My purpose in this dissertation is to help improve the way Korean-American pastors and their congregations care for survivors. In addition, discussion was pursued with individuals from the other fifty-six churches in the presbytery. The paper also incorporates some of the current thought regarding the role of middle governing bodies in a mainline tradition. With the community seated around the table in a Presbyterian (USA) church, the congregation was studied for six-months using linked quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. Architectural, historical and theological sources from the Reformed tradition inform the study. (PCUSA). Since the 1960s, mainline denominations' membership has declined. The Presbytery of Memphis, the basic unit studied, participated in the decline of the PCUSA. The dynamic model developed in this dissertation combines the shepherd and servant metaphors to develop a biblical, narrative-driven model for transformational leadership.
