The fraternity invites Catholic priests to pray together, to encourage, support, strengthen and enjoy each other as a 'band of brothers'. Our research studied current American culture which shows the Catholic Church to be shrinking. The author used three questionnaires to research the diocese of Sioux City presbyterate's spiritual and ministerial lives and to identify factors which contribute to priests' satisfaction. The responses of Jesus-Caritas priests, priests who belong to other support groups, and priests who belong to no support group were analyzed. This research was distributed to the presbyterate, and the author mentored a group of priests in the formation of a new Jesus-Caritas Priests' Fraternity. The priest as a helping professional is often symbolically given god-like power to heal, help, guide, console, counsel and affirm.  This paper analyzes the role of the priest as a professional helper called by God and examines his dealing with stressful, vocational demands.  Role expectations must be integrated with capabilities; otherwise, being all things to all people usually leads to stagnation, frustration and apathy, the successive stages of burning out.  The emotional demands of risking, reaching out and touching the people of God on a deep interpersonal level can lead to wholeness/holiness, or to destruction. If stress is not dealt with creatively, the body, mind and soul are dis-eased.  Especially serious is stress on the heart. However, with creative power one can channel stress to yield an abundant harvest in the vineyard of the Lord. Diocese of Cleveland","Priests, Catholic","Self-evaluation"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This Doctor of Ministry project attempts to set forth the development and design of ministerial performance of Roman Catholic Clergy in the Diocese of Cleveland.  The development consisted first in researching existing programs of clergy evaluation in the United States both Roman Catholic and Protestant. Secondly, the project involved  psychological  preparation  of priests for the possibility of ministerial performance evaluation.  Priests were personally interviewed in a stratified, random sampling.  They also did a time-study or functions survey as to how they spend their time in ministry.  Three kinds of instruments for evaluation were designed: self evaluation, peer evaluation, and lay evaluation.  The process for evaluation includes the assistance of a third party, priest confidant who gathers and interprets all of the responses.  The program was adopted by the Diocese of Cleveland.
