The project involved a six-session, twelve-hour educational seminar.  The seminar investigated a clinical definition of religion, the relationship between religion and culture, and religion's relationship with Axis I and Axis II DSM-IIIR diagnoses. It concluded by addressing psychiatric assessment skills in the area of religion. The author was originally struck by the religious terminology which illustrated significant portions of the clearest expression of object relations thought by Ronald Fairbairn.  More recent authors, namely Sheldon Cashdan and Frank Lake, have also been examined to reveal further development.
