The thesis documents the breakthrough experience in the lives of these women as they name the causes and consequences of their growing feminist self-awareness and the relationship of their self-awareness to their own spiritual journey. The theory of Bernard Lonergan's self-appropriation of the human subject undergirds this study. This theoretical framework shapes the process of theological reflection used with the women and sets the scene for an understanding of emerging consciousness in women that is liberating. A feminist methodology is employed which situates the research in the experience of the researcher. The findings of this study confirm that there is an emerging feminist consciousness among Catholic women which needs to be nurtured by conscientized and sensitive ministers. It also affirms that ministry to women and by women is a priority in the Church today."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715125582626816,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:41:32.115Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:47:54Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:44:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"57a6bfe4-2118-443a-8e64-92446821bb24","accessControl_ssim":["8f9a3955-d8a5-414e-8771-b1c6210d3894"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The quest for a mature masculinity"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:47:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:42:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["70ce717f-a1b8-43da-b04c-2fa82a59a360"],"hasLease_ssim":["eb0cd701-1cde-45c2-92f3-61be4e421b5c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Brian W Grant"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["H Fredrik Spier"],"publisher_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Men","Psychology","Masculinity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Men face many problems at the end of the 20th century. The work of Robert Bly, the masculine archetypes of Robert Moore and the spirituality/sexuality of James Nelson are addressed. Two stories enjoying currency for their illustrating landmarks to mature masculinity are included. Case studies are from the author's pastoral psychotherapeutic practice. Basic life experiences (centering, imaging, and anticipating) were defined, then discerned in world religions, secular psychology, Christian mysticism, and healing. Substantial parallels were found between certain forms of relaxation, visualization, and mental rehearsal and particular ways of doing meditation, contemplation and prayer. Therefore, one may conclude that either or both approaches can contribute significantly to self-transformation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715853938196480,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:53:06.730Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:44:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:45:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"772eebb8-7354-4fa7-99a5-362bd750b77e","accessControl_ssim":["9fc1c35b-98a0-43c1-9c56-4f468ac0a1e7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Counseling to women who are the victims of child sexual abuse"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:44:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:38:06Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c7ab7590-c1a2-4003-aaa4-7640914f2180"],"hasLease_ssim":["450751c8-5977-43fd-89ed-b71f619dadcc"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ursula Riedel-Pfäfflin"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Abraham J Athialy"],"publisher_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Adult child sexual abuse victims","Church work with abuse victims","Women","Object relations (Psychoanalysis)","Suffering of God","Psychology","Counseling"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Child sexual abuse is a serious problem in our society. The paper includes a report and analysis of a workshop organized and led by the author and Gretchen Helm, EdD. The workshop provides insights taken from an experience of reactions to the issues raised by the sexual abuse of female children. Because the paper deals exclusively with counseling female survivors the biblical and theological perspectives are weighted toward the feminist perspective. It is the author's contention that pastors, regardless of gender, can best serve female survivors of childhood sexual abuse from that
