Participants attended educational sessions, workshops, and shared their original creations in worship.  Post-project survey data confirm the positive outcomes of the worship project. Using a Bible written in a commoner-friendly language is essential for the effective work of contemporary ministry. However, those churches that are willing to make the change from the KJV to a contemporary version are faced with a lack of guidelines and principles to help them navigate the transition. In an effort to fill this void, this study examined the change process of a Baptist congregation which transitioned from the King James Version to a modern-language Bible as its primary worship text. The findings confirmed that transitioning from the antiquated wording of the KJV to a contemporary-language version was beneficial to the members and the ministries of the congregation. The project director led these sessions for the selected group of First Baptist Church, Pontotoc, for the purpose of equipping them to implement the seeker-sensitive service. The report included research, meditation practice sessions, a preparatory sermon, post/pre questionnaires and an evaluation of the entire process.  The theological dialogue partners included Dale Andrews and Howard Thurman. The results  were a better understanding of the congregation's approach to worship and their desired outcome of worship. The training program included lectures, directed reading, discussion, practice exercises, assigned visits to various churches, and a rehearsal worship service planned and conducted by participants.  Project participants then planned, conducted, and evaluated Sunday morning worship for six weeks.  The project succeeded only in part, since some participants refused to lead public worship, insisting on involvement of members who had not participated in the project. The author employed a worship committee, teaching and preaching opportunities, opinion surveys, worship planning sessions and worship service implementation to effect change in worship.
