The aim of the project is twofold: 1) to discover, through a historical case study, a Reformed precedent for 'class networking', and 2) test such 'class networking' among some of today's Reformed laity in the Washington, D C area. Dr Thomas Chalmers and his nineteenth century class networking in urban Scotland is chosen as the Reformed precedent. Two groups of affluent laity (one experimental, one control) are selected at random from Reformed parishes to engage in a one-year test of the hypothesis. Results underscore the validity of the hypothesis. The experimental group becomes less prejudiced toward 'the poor' after the year of socializing and the control group shows no change or more prejudice after its year of non-involvement with 'the poor'."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714981419155456,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:39:14.630Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:00:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:10:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e931cbe4-f134-4f5d-a21a-af416b47847b","accessControl_ssim":["f77fa394-9f89-4528-a1b6-2d7a6b50768e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ministering toward congregational maturity: a reformed perspective"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:59:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:48:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["17b836d0-8c1b-4e87-a5e9-eb105a603594"],"hasLease_ssim":["978f0a84-f5f7-4358-a566-d51ac0b47c5c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas P Eggebeen"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations, Reformed","Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Belief and doubt","Reformed Church","Baptism--Reformed Church","Church work","Spiritual life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the thesis is to provide: 1) insights into the relevance of the Reformed tradition for congregational life; 2) examples and analysis of programs useful in creating a Reformed consciousness; and 3) a critique of fundamentalism. The Electronic Church Awareness Guide is designed to aid in one's investigation and learning about electronic media and the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715428419764224,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:46:20.924Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:04:24Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:33:09Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4ca0ee57-04dc-4db9-9cec-c6e46a4e8346","accessControl_ssim":["f8b6143a-39c7-4180-a282-291efb0697ff"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Over the Hill and Everywhere: How the Art of Storytelling Can Revive the Practice of Evangelism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:04:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:23:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2050f318-7604-488f-9e98-0381f37729bd"],"hasLease_ssim":["de65b50f-eda0-4209-b32d-d84c1994841f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Clifton Kirkpatrick"],"year_tesim":["2018"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Goodman, Jon Kyle"],"keyword_tesim":["Evangelism--Methods","Evangelism"],"subject_tesim":["Reformed Church","Storytelling","Presbyterian Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Faith-sharing evangelism has long been an afterthought in the mainline church, abandoned to the dogmatic, coercive approaches practiced in evangelical circles. The author contends that the art of storytelling offers the mainline church an alternative approach for that practice. The author taught a course on storytelling at Alamance Presbyterian Church. Following the course, each participant agreed to seek opportunities to share their faith narratively outside their congregational context. Participants reported their activity at a closing session and in a written survey. The author concludes that teaching the art of storytelling has the potential to help the mainline church reclaim the practice of evangelism."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7d2ba5b6-aeec-459a-aaec-e1eed75d32f0"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134313860825088,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:33:12.363Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
