The HMong became the CIA's secret army fighting against the Communist forces.  By the late 1960's, as the war in Laos intensified, the HMong were doing the majority of America's fighting, and dying, there.  In May 1975, after the fall of Laos, tens of thousands of HMong escaped to Thailand.  As an autobiographical study, the project thesis serves as a historical study of the HMong people. The researcher reviewed biblical healing literature and research literature on PTSD and trauma survivors. The researcher used descriptive research to interview seven Liberian refugees in order to discover related themes in their stories. It then applied that theology for empowerment to improve sub-standard housing conditions for Lao.  The research identified, described, and held in conversation three influential contexts of 'bamboo, borders, and bricks' for Lao theology, and applied these contexts to create Christian responses to poor housing through biblical and folk stories, re-worked housing rituals, and community organizing with artistic poetry, songs, and visuals. By interviewing a sample of 33 Vietnamese Christians, the project discovered that Vietnamese immigrants are often not devoted to their former religions. Crises, conviction that Christ is God, anticipation that God can meet one's felt needs, and parents' approval are important factors influencing conversion. Primary research tools included questionnaries and interviews. Survey results indicate that a high degree of racism in established American congregations (both black and white) sometimes hinders developing relationships.  Ingrained cultural perspectives are problematic. Some Haitians and some established American groups are making significant advances in learning from one another. Close to one hundred reminiscences which are in a form of testimonies or witnesses provide the background for the author's theological views and position.  The introduction, called prelude, of the paper gives a brief historical overview of Latvia, Latvians, and Latvian Christian heritage. Research into the process of Indochinese migration into Australia also is included.  A survey was conducted among churches in Sydney to discover the distinctive elements of Chinese evangelism.  A training program was developed based on the findings. This program was tested and retested.
