A biblical and theological perspective is offered on pastoral concerns emerging from family life in the changing society.  The roles of family members which contribute to a responsible church and society are considered, along with family planning.  Separation of husband from family to work in distant places for economic survival is a most serious situation impacting families in Kenya.  The church has an important role on educating families to survive and reshape society. The hypothesis was that there would be no difference between postsermon test results following traditional sermons and test results following sermons divided into four parts.  The author presented six sermons in each format.  Following the worship services randomly selected persons completed a 20-question multiple-choice test to determine content retention.  T-tests of grand mean scores for tests following each format revealed no significant difference in levels of comprehension. To test it out, the author reviewed theological studies, interviewed people from a local church, and had dialogue with pastors in a district.  On the basis of this material a Bible study about ancestors and a worship service which includes ancestors were developed. A life situational approach to preaching and teaching was developed for naval deployment, in light of the twentieth century American life situational preaching of Harry Emerson Fosdick and Edgar N Jackson, and Lewis Sherrill's theology and practice of Christian education.  A religious program resource (the study guide) was developed and was used successfully by naval shipboard chaplains. The context is the 19th century East-West encounter of religions.  The paper focuses on the interaction between the Brahmo Samaj of India and American Unitarianism.  Its methodology is historical-phenomenological.  It concludes that Mozoomdar's visits in 1883, 1893 and 1900 as a missionary of the New Dispensation evoked considerable response in America.  His role in the Parliament of Religions in 1893 was significant and his visits helped institutionalize relations between Indian Brahmos and American Unitarians. The paper gives a biblical and historical overview and discusses contemporary objections to healing ministry.  It examines three settings where healing ministry is practiced. The author clarifies his theological understanding and traces through journal entries his initial experiential involvement in healing ministry.  He shares reflections/learnings which may be of value to others interested in beginning a practice of healing ministry. Among these learnings is the importance of empathic prayer and the engendering of hope.  Conveying God's care and desire for wholeness for creation is crucial.  Healing ministry should be an integral part of pastoral care ministry as well as of the congregation's life and ministry.
