Purpose: To develop a health promotion manual for Black Baptists. Methodology: Document the health status of African Americans; complete a secondary analysis survey data set on 1,327 Black Baptists, and develop and evaluate the manual. Results: A manual that positively influences health behavioral change among Black Baptists, through an interdisciplinary faith-health approach to improve health that can be used in congregational settings. The report began with a survey of psychological, sociological, and theological insights into male depression.  The support group consisted of eight weekly sessions with homework assignments drawn from CR material, Hart's book, and daily devotionals. The key conclusion of the project was that depressed Christian men can be aided significantly through an integrated, Bible-based support group. Research included stories of ancestors, the Black church tradition and personal life stories. My intention in this thesis is to combine expressionistic imagery with African American celebrative preaching.  Most Swedish sermons are cognitive and didactic and without celebration.  Preachers tend to concentrate more on law than gospel.  After such a sermon there might be some quiet time for reflection.  Through imaginative expressionistic celebrative preaching I will bring to Swedish preaching color and joy, which will help the listener experience the assurance of grace.  In this thesis I have defined expressionistic preaching and described the African American celebrative sermon and its theology.  I have also presented imaginative homiletics and its theology and presented a psychological model of interpretation of the imaginary and the mystic experience. In my thesis I have made a descriptive study of the effects in the listeners after an expressionistic celebrative sermon and described the problems with celebration in a Swedish context and given a psychological explanation for the absence of instantaneous celebration.  My conclusions are: The expressionistic celebrative sermon is a colorful and positive experience.  Swedish listeners experience the assurance of grace, but they don't celebrate as a group. The study uses a survey format to obtain data regarding church planting in the Churches of Christ in Australia.  The total number of congregations is approximately 450 with 102 responding to the survey.  20% of the churches responding had attempted a church plant in the last ten years.
