Three models of incarnational mission in community development were presented as case studies: Canaan Farmer's School, Doo-Rae Community Movement, and Da-Il Community Church. Findings were related to historical and practical studies, and to theological reflections. Two new committees were established, a process was developed, and a manual written to evaluate and implement new technologies.  The result was the successful implementation of many new technologies at GUMC. The emphasis was upon supplementing conventional components of stress-management by allowing spirituality to influence perception of untoward events. the bias is that each individual possesses a spiritual core, and therefore, any effort to manage stress minus such an emphasis is truncated, and with limited effectiveness. The relational nature nature of the concepts of imago Dei and compassion provide theological justification and sufficient grounds for a nonsectarian approach in a secular environment. Two major research questions motivate this study: Is it appropriate for pastoral staff to use general psychological theories and techniques to conduct counseling? Should the trinitarian perspective be the guiding hand in counseling the victims of a disaster? The author used the Taiwanese earthquake of September 21, 1999 as a research setting and conducted in-depth interviews with pastoral counselors and victims in six disaster areas in Taiwan. The study shows that the most essential spiritual power behind the pastoral counseling of the victims was communion with the Trinity. Such fellowship is also the essential factor in the salvation plan of the Triune God. The project encompassed a four-year period between 1998 and 2001 and included three-years of focused interaction with thirty-three flagship and representative organizations from fourteen states and twenty-six cities nationwide.
