Christians have turned to their churches and pastors to cope with the feelings of loneliness, fear, and frustration.  The pastor cannot meet all the needs of these people by himself.  To help church members fulfill their Christian ministry a training program was developed covering the following resources: 1) needs of recent immigrant Koreans; 2) principles of pastoral care; 3) skills of pastoral care.  At the conclusion, lay-shepherds had taken responsibility for one another with skills and perspectives of pastoral care and expressed growth in personality and spirituality. One must seek to understand the historical and psychosocial dimensions of religious involvement as well.  The method of study for the thesis was the psychosocial, historical, and doctrinal comparison of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Unification Church, and Protestant evangelicals.
