Schleiermacher, Barth, Bultmann, Tillich and Moltmann are considered as most important from theological literature.  Freud, Jung, Frankl, Maslow, Rogers and May are the psychologists discussed.  A case presentation is utilized to allow an interpretation of theological and psychological constructs.  Specific conclusions and implications are drawn for pastoral care, theological education, church ministry and lay application. We studied three traditional responses that have been made at various intervals to the problem of evil, that of Leibniz, Augustine, and Calvin, the thought of Walter Kaufmann on the problem of evil, and three non-traditional responses to the problem made by Spinoza, Schleiermacher, Unamuno, and David Ray Griffin.  In a ten week study group we addressed the philosophical problem of evil with a group of interested laypersons.
