After surveying the perceived spiritual formation needs of students in one seminary, four teaching/learning activities were designed and implemented.  Although the whole project was carried out within a period of only eight weeks, there was a favorable response to the learning experiences and some progress in the use of spiritual disciplines was revealed. An instrument of evaluation consisting of interviews with principals and questionnaires of students and alumni was prepared and administered. The findings were analyzed.  It was observed that since institutional integration was not possible, nor advisable, the best way to cooperate and share resources would be to suggest degree program integration. This would assist to integrate knowledge, experience, and practical skills in a balanced way. Finally, it proposes specific curricula for both undergraduate and graduate levels of ministerial education. Field interviews and library research comprised the primary methodology. The result provides a basis for self-directed learning and evaluation useful for men who have leading pastoral roles in local churches without the benefit of a traditional Bible college or seminary education.  The thesis lays the exegetical foundation for a description of pastoral competencies, introduces non-traditional theological education, explores its history in America and its use in the missionary setting, and relates it to adult learning theories.
