This was accomplished through the supervised ministry course that Roman Catholic seminarians undergo during formation years.  It acquainted the seminarians with the techniques that each developed to open themselves up and to protect themselves from other people. It seemed valuable to design a study which would express the Church's understanding of diocesan priesthood in the teaching of Vatican Council II, and to examine the way in which this was addressed in the policies of St John's field education department and in some representative sites. However, many individual congregations show every sign of being vital congregations. This project establishes the feasibility of using Internet tools to connect Wesley Theological Seminary to these congregations. The author establishes precedence for the project by analyzing the history of seminaries and the conversation within theological education about its future. He grounds the project in the context of the seminary's strategic plan. The intent is to explore the nature and purpose of researching the theological disciplines, define the cognitive, affective and skill outcomes for masters theological students, and design a two-hour one-semester course which optimizes the learning outcomes. The course design groups the intended learning outcomes in three conceptual units: inquiry skill, resource competency and writing proficiency.
