It is mainly a description of how leaders are trained in a church established by the EFCA mission in the northwest corner of Zaire.  The last part of the study presents some suggestions to improve the teaching of theology to make it more contextual in content and methodology. Elements of the study included acquainting participants with the grammar/vocabulary of visual and literary art, enabling group members to see connections between the creative process and the spiritual journey, exploring wholistic definitions of art, artist, evangelism and evangelist, and studying biblical material in a creative way that empowers people to live more intentionally in a scriptural context. This project analyzes and explores the use of Thomas Groome's shared Christian praxis as an approach to teach an introductory church history course. Church history as faith story can formulate Christian self-understanding (Malaysian Christian self-understanding). An introductory church history course syllabus based on shared praxis was designed and taught. The project examines the basic issues involved in contextualization and offers a defense for the procedure used.  The writer identifies biblical principles of leadership by examining biblical terminology, teaching passages, and character studies.  Traditional patterns of leadership among Alaskan natives as found in the ethnographic literature is described. Consequently, it is the author's contention that roleplay ought to be used more frequently in the pastoral theology classroom.  The proposed model portrays counseling, administrative, visitation, pulpit, and personal situations encountered by today's pastors.  It includes the following features: preparatory notes, the actual roleplay, a peer evaluation, a follow-up discussion, a self-evaluation, and the teacher's evaluation. These churches, though apparently growing numerically, are spiritually stagnant and encountering crises, particularly with their young educated members.  Through interviews with the executive leaders of four of the largest of these churches in Nigeria, and a questionnaire survey of about ten large denominations, this writer has been able to document the problems facing their ministerial training. The result of the research has served as a basis for proposing certain criteria necessary to revamp their ministerial training.
