To facilitate the analysis, an evaluative grid was developed.  The grid was the interpretive tool used to determine changes in the presentation of the doctrine of sanctification.  Two main conclusions came about because of this study.  First, no significant theological change took place in the doctrine of sanctification as it appeared in the Revivalist. His view of this overall spiritual process incorporates elements of both particular crises and processes and is 'systemic' in nature, involving cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions of human experience.  This project of ten weekly two-hour small group learning experiences employed pretest and both immediate and delayed posttest evaluations of participants' understanding.  While not statistically confirmed because of the limited number of participants, the findings point clearly to laypersons' ability to grasp comprehensively sanctification's meaning. As such it must be renewed if transformation of life is to overcome conformity to the world. Initiating the project was a survey of a congregation's perception of faith.  Results of the survey reflected the need of Baptists to address the place of experience after the 'born again' event, a lack of discipline, and the influence others have on an individual's spiritual growth.  At the end of the project a survey was taken that showed Southern Baptists can develop an understanding of spirituality as journey. It compares these prayers with the congregant's perceptions of the Church of the Nazarene's teachings on the doctrine of entire sanctification.  The purpose of the project is to analyze and evaluate the congregant's expectations and reactions to the comparison.  It uses the descriptive survey method of inquiry to gather data from the control group of the Grandview church and from a companion test group randomly selected from four other Nazarene churches in the Kansas City area. This project contains a section on 'The Review of Related Literature' which covers the doctrine and practice of entire sanctification which outlines what constitutes transgression in the life of those who claim the experience of entire sanctification or Christian perfection. The paper describes an eight week course, a many faceted, several month program and a network of small groups within a 700 member congregation. The study attempts to ascertain if those ordained by the church claim to be in the experience of entire sanctification or if the doctrine is understood.  Each ordinand in the United States and Canada in 1980 was questioned concerning his understanding, experience, and the methodology employed by the Board of Orders and Relations in evaluating qualifications for the role of elder. Questionnaires were also sent to the chairman of the Board of Orders and Relations of each district.  Although results of the questionnaire show strengths in the examination procedures, weaknesses also appear.
