Richardson made his main contribution to the Stone-Campbell movement as co-editor of Alexander Campbell's second periodical, 'The Millennial Harbinger'. This study has sought to reclaim the lost heritage of Richardson's thought on the Holy Spirit, to find an understanding of his thought and the influences of his time, to show how his thought differed from the thought of other leaders in the Stone-Campbell Movement previous to 1906, and to attempt to update his thought with that of some recent studies on the Holy Spirit.  The second part of this study consists of an editing of Richardson's twenty-four communion devotionals, Communings in the Sanctuary. First, sanctification is reviewed within Wesley's Way of Salvation. Next, the impact of the nineteenth century's holiness movement on sanctification is examined. Several lay people and clergy were interviewed to determine what contemporary United Methodists know about sanctification. Then eleven lay people participated in a five-week project, studying Wesley's experiential theology. Since sanctification is a continuing process of change involving both the individual and the society, peacemaking provides the substance and direction of this process of change. In a context of war/conflict, such as what is currently obtaining in the Philippines, peacemaking is the way to proclaim the Good News and to witness to Gods redeeming love. It is the contention of the author, however, that the local churches are neither oriented nor equipped to participate in peacemaking. It is therefore important that strong formational programs have to be launched towards this purpose, targeting pastors, lay preachers, Sunday School teachers and leaders of lay organizations.
