Each year, it has twenty big teaching group meetings and twenty small group meetings.  Two evaluation tools are used.  Pretest and posttest surveys evaluate its effectiveness to equip Christlike servant-leaders according to both the participants and the wives.  Men's ministry group meeting survey evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of all meetings. The methodology of this study comprised the design and selection of three instruments, the application of the surveys, and data analysis.  The findings enabled the researcher to create a profile of the observed community. The Korean immigrants have experienced great growth since they first came to Hawaii in 1903. The Korean church in America has also undergone tremendous growth. First of all, this study presents the history of Korean immigration to the United States and the accompanying growth of the church in various stages from 1903 to the present. In addition, the study analyzes the results of a survey on what kind of leadership Korean American church congregation members desire. Many of Korean American church congregation members want the servant leadership model for their pastors because they have difficulty adapting to their new life in America. They suffer physical and mental stresses and depression arising from life as a minority group in a foreign land. However, Jesus' intention for his disciples was to be a 'people who' embodied the gospel.  This project identifies the dominant scripts guiding many congregations, suggesting an alternative script including being a contrast society, participating in the mission dei, living as disciples, and understanding ourselves as 'family members' in the household of God. Five lessons were presented to twenty-two teachers and students in the Bukavu Pastor's School.  An evaluation instrument was given to assess their responses to the model. It asked if their leadership style was congruent with or impacted by the denomination's theology.  Following an overview of the history and theology of the Brethren in Christ, an argument was presented for servant leadership as the leadership style suited for this denomination.  A biblical basis for servant leadership and the spiritual formation of the leader was developed.  Robert Greenleaf's work on servant leadership was reviewed, and his impact on current leadership practices and their congruence with Christian authors was assessed.  John Ortberg's work was used to develop a scale to measure felt and observed leadership/servant qualities.  The core values of the denomination provided a way to measure the theological commitments of its pastors. Three primary servanthood roles for deacons emerge in this study: worship, fellowship, and prayer. A deacon's role is not narrowly liturgical, but nonliturgical roles are developing more slowly. As these deacons respond to their servanthood tasks, their stories illuminate the diaconate's influence on their faith and on the life of the congregation.
