Participants who report a high score in one of Erikson's stages are expected to report a high score as a result of the influence of religious tradition, for that stage. The Seventh-day Adventist church has its own unique culture, traditions, conservative principles and philosophy that are grounded in the 28 fundamental beliefs of the church. The author has studied the moving procedures used by the Lake Region, Northeastern, and Allegheny East conferences.  Included in the study is the impact that moving has on the pastors, their families, and the congregations.  Following a series of interviews, case studies and discussions with a moving review process team, the conclusion was, the conferences of focus needed to develop a formal moving process, rather than informal procedures. A research survey was sent to 500 Seventh-day Adventist congregational leaders to rate their ministers according to five bases of power (Expert, Referent, Reward, Legitimate, and Coercive). The survey also asked the respondents to reflect on the health and morale of their congregations. It is written from research, survey observation, and personal experience.  Pacing oneself, balancing personal life, and finding the appropriate priority of vocation are daily concerns in the sojourn of Seventh-Day Adventist pastors.  Imbalance among these priorities often results in frustration, discouragement, and even burnout.  Although pastoral burnout is real in most denominations, the potential causes of burnout among Seventh-day Adventist pastors is viewed in light of their unique history, mission, and organizational structure.  This project seeks to identify potential causes of burnout in pastoral ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  It also discusses methods of burnout prevention and ways Adventist pastors can renew themselves. The examination of the potential causes of burnout in Seventh-day Adventist pastoral ministyr may be first related to the pastor's inappropriate response to the great gospel commission.  The Adventist pastor's sense of personal or general church mission may be inappropriate or unrealistic.  Second, burnout among pastors is related to their inability to find a balance in relationship to conference, congregation, community, and home life.  This inevitably will cause personal dilemmas that may be internal and/or external.  Third, burnout is related to the pastor's ability or inability to handle relational conflict. Understanding potential causes of burnout, and recognizing its signs and symptoms are essential to its prevention, and equally essential in the restoration of pastors who have become its victims. Therefore, in order to avoid burnout it is essential that the Adventist pastor be made aware of its potential causes. The project circulates an attitudinal questionnaire on the Likert model to 85 pastors serving Seventh-day Adventist churches in the southeastern US, finding that these African Americans are reticent about the therapeutic process because of perceived stigma. This finding is borne out in current literature suggesting that African Americans as a group feel stigmatized by the mental health process and therefore resist it. Applying criteria for authentic expository preaching derived from biblical and current literature to 14 sample sermons prepared by seven Korean Seventh-day Adventist preachers, the project determines that only two of these sermons are expository. Participating clergy recommended that a core course in sexual ethics should be included in all ministerial training programs and that seminars or programs should be initiated to assist ministers already in pastoral practice. New and transferring pastors should be screened for potential sexual difficulties and should be asked to participate in an orientation process. If a cultural gap is part of the problem, measures can be taken to help pastors develop greater cultural sensitivity. Surveys investigated differences between perceptions of pastors and members in an Appalachian conference of Seventh-Day Adventists.  Percentages, t-tests for independent means, and correlation coefficients examined the relationship between perceptions regarding Appalachian culture of church members and pastors at the .05 significance level.  All, but one, of the cultural clusters indicates cultural gaps. Factors that discouraged pastors from being evaluated were discovered and addressed. Methodology included surveys, interviews, and the involvement of pastors, laypeople, and church administrators in developing an evaluation process and instruments.  The project showed positive results as pastors in the Ohio Conference began to voluntarily request
