In Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario, instruction in nutrition has been inconsistent historically.  To start addressing this inconsistency, this project pursued the development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9 to 12 in Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario.  It was developed and tested at Crawford Adventist Academy. A comprehensive process for working with leaders was developed and implemented over a four-year time period.  A specific portion of the process was tested using a written questionnaire and verbal interviews, which were used to assess the way volunteers perceived their own spirituality and leadership before and after four weeks of meetings and interaction with the volunteers.  These informal meetings focused on providing space for intentionality in the spiritual life of the leader and encouraged the practice of spiritual exercises. The thesis of the project is that implementing a spiritual formation process of leadership development is a necessary shift in pedagogy for training local church volunteer youth leaders to most effectively lead ministries to youth and young adults with an emerging postmodern world view which values authentic spirituality over other qualities and skill sets of leadership.  Chapter 1 introduces the process and provides the methodology and parameters of the research project.  Chapter 2 gives an overview of the challenge of postmodernism to church leadership, the need for pedagogical change, and the historical context of spirituality and spiritual formation in both youth and leadership, as well as a theological foundation for leading such a change in a denomination.  Chapter 3 summarizes and interprets the general findings while Chapter 4 provides recommendations for further study. Method: a sociological questionnaire was implemented on a select group of Michigan Adventists and three focus groups; a manual was constructed and refined in two pilot lay-training seminars.  Results: Adventists had stereotypical perceptions of Jewish people, but were willing to be educated for interaction.  Evaluations revealed that participants' understanding of Jewish people improved.  Follow-up suggestions were recommended.  Conclusions: Adventists' attitudes toward Jews are influenced by theology, a lack of familiarity, ignorance, and stereotypes.  Lay and clergy training seminars are needed. Many members of the church are not proficient in leading a person to Jesus. This research seeks to address this issue by providing a training program. A profile of the Greenwich church has been established and a task force team has been established comprising people trained in personal evangelism. Questionnaires and seminars were the primary means of establishing the team. 19 people have been identified.
