The evaluators were provided with a written and verbal  presentation of the H.O.P.E. Infusion Betrayal Trauma Seminar materials, and assessed its impact psychologically, cognitively, and spiritually. The results were measured statistically and by personal response. None is more essential than shame.  Survivors need help in moving out from trauma and humiliation to celebrate goodness and right to joy. After presenting some psychological and theological foundations of shame, this project explores various treatment modalities and presents combined treatment (individual and group therapy with the same therapist) as a powerful tool to identify and treat shame. Clinical data prove the effectiveness of this modality. This was a qualitative study using a stratified sample of six Sisters who had been sexually abused as children and had engaged in some form of pastoral counseling regarding this issue.  The results indicated that the convent was not always a safe place, that pastoral counselors have not always addressed the issue of sexual abuse, and that most of the participants have used the process of pastoral psychotherapy to recommit to religious life. A pre-test/post-test design is employed to test the hypothesis that there would be improvement in the areas of: 1) affective communication; 2) problem solving communication; and 3) global stress.  The 'Marital Satisfaction Inventory' is used before the weekend and ten weeks later to determine whether change occurs. Test results are supplemented by four individual interviews.  An improvement is found in all three areas
