She compared their lives and ministry with her research on shamans and shamanism across cultures, as well as with the ministerial life and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Following the method of practical theology, i.e., a praxis-theory-praxis approach, the author began with the experience of Catholic lay chaplains.
