This dissertation takes a thorough look at Romans 6:1-14 in order to prepare a homiletic outline from which a sermon series is developed. Paul's situation, purpose for writing, and flow of thought are analyzed, and the verses are then studied in the original language. Two phrases--'baptized into Christ' and 'died to sin'--are analyzed and discussed, surveying opinions throughout the history of the Church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131942808190976,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:31.151Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:11:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:16:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"361d171d-8178-473a-8184-5fefe597b14e","accessControl_ssim":["e59958e5-46b3-4712-ae03-b472945c67eb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sacrament of reconciliation and narcissism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:11:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:41:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c20f8434-8462-4ada-ac63-5a6ef7215de3"],"hasLease_ssim":["8508449b-435f-43b5-81b8-900d1a649492"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Leanne McCall Tigert"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William V Kaliyadan"],"keyword_tesim":["Reconciliation (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Reconciliation","Theology","Confession","Sin--Christianity--History of doctrines","Self-esteem"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study of the sacrament of reconciliation and narcissism helps to see psychological complexities of human life hidden behind the experience of sin. It uses his primary works (especially City of God, Confessions, On Christian teaching, Commentary on Galatians and 84 propositions from the Epistles of Romans) as they develop Paul's theology of sin. It builds a theological foundation (based on four theological issues about sin: its origin, its nature, its consequence, and its remedy) in order to establish a correct understanding of the topic of sin in a contemporary context. Ultimately, it utilizes that information to develop a practical theology that is integrated into applicable Christian living in four areas: soteriology, evangelism, ecclesiology, and discipleship. This dissertation takes seriously Paul's notion that 'sin is death' (Romans 6:23) and that God has chosen the church to present his remedy for sin to the world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131835122581504,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:53:48.453Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:11:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:06:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d95313a9-905e-40e8-be9f-f0370fd55999","accessControl_ssim":["824c1c86-bd2b-4976-8da4-bb9298bf1386"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Men who fail: a redemptive journey"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:10:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:20:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["99e1e471-d6b0-4dc0-890b-30186ebb6c75"],"hasLease_ssim":["5432760c-ede5-41f2-b847-fca7668cdef1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sidney L Bradley"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Marc J Krug"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Sin--Christianity--History of doctrines","Redemption--Christianity","Divorce"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the place of sin, loss and marital failure in the redemptive process of a man's life this side of heaven. Next, the concept of marriage and family will be seen through a biblical and theological context that helps to explain the spiritual dynamics involved in the process of growth and change.
