The project methodology consisted of twelve basic training sessions that enabled participants to build trust with each other, to acquire confidence in sharing their own faith stories as part of evangelism and to be more aware and responsible for fulfilling the stated mission of the church. This project gave a forum for writers in the Kansas City Kansas Baptist Association.  Of the pool of forty-three eligible churches and missions at the beginning of the project, nine participated.  While the project was designed to indicate success with eight participants, not only was this goal surpassed but others have indicated a desire to participate at a later time.  A journal was produced with editing at a later time. In today's economy a full-time priest serving one altar places severe demands on these congregations.  As small churches over-invest financially in clergy deployment they also over-invest emotionally.  An atmosphere is created where clergy are expected to over-function to match the high level of investment.  The stresses caused by this phenomena are causing clergy 'burn-out' while these small cures are becoming harder to fill.  The project/thesis explores the connection between financial over-investment and the emotional expectations to over-function. Pastors of small, rural churches have a complex of frustrations or difficulties which make their ministry more difficult than larger church pastors.  These factors include finances, leadership conflicts, background differences between pastor and spouse and the current church/community he serves, isolation, lack of denominational support, size (of the church he pastors), loss of specific calling, and lack of support from literature to address his demographic setting. At the extremes of the survey sample one could see evident differences in the frustration they faced.  Finances, leadership conflicts, lack of denominational support, and loss of calling all affected the smallest pastors, while these were not such a frustration to larger church pastors. In addition, the rural pastor did have some differences in the way he responded to the survey, though the results were not conclusive.
