It is a structured way of reaching out to all the members of the congregation to let them know that the church cares about them.  Built into the program is direct, personal contact with nuclear, modal, marginal, and dormant members. Along with one-to-one contact there are new fellowship opportunities designed to low for closer relationships to develop within small groups. The project sought through pastoral care, demonstrated in an intentional small group process, to promote theological reflection about meaningful living.  The desired effect was to know the fact of one's death to be an impetus for life. This report outlines theological and psychological bases for the concept of anticipatory grief.  Methodology entailed determination of issues the participants wanted addressed as well as delineation of the mechanics of the phenomenon of anticipatory grief.  The project showed a positive correlation between a constructive sense of anticipatory grief and a sense of meaning for life.
