In the second stage, the project director assembled a planning team, devised the planning process, and then led the team to develop an assimilation strategy. To achieve the goals for this project, the project director utilized an equipping module. The first phase of the project involved researching many different resources in the field of small groups and small group leadership skills. The project director utilized these resources to produce the lessons used to equip the selected group. The second phase was to develop a seminar, including lesson plans and a student workbook. The final phase of the project involved implementing the seminar for the initial training of the selected group. The seminar consisted of an introduction session, four lessons, a conclusion session and an implementation discussion. The seminar was conducted on four Sunday afternoons. Therefore, this project employed a small group for the purpose of leading people to experience restoration by experiencing a greater sense of community and transformation, hope and healing. The significant finding was that people experienced greater levels of acceptance and affirmation. Group participants also reported feeling less isolated and more connected to God and one another. The project director identified and enlisted student members who have displayed an affinity for leadership and who were members of DLBC to participate in training to lead a small group Bible study. The training focused on equipping students, who are given a lesson plan, to lead a group of their peers in studying Scriptures at an age-appropriate level of competence. Evaluation of the project director's growth and the effectiveness of the training occurred at the conclusion of the training event. This project took a select group of staff and lay-leaders meeting in small groups and facilitated the development of their emotional intelligence and spiritual maturity. At the end of the process, the participants committed to reproduce this process with a group the following semester. Learning theory and sociological dynamics helped shape the small group atmosphere. The project rendered that character formation effectively takes place in a small group setting.
