The research is centered around preparation and analysis of a series of four sermons on social justice.  An attempt was made to demonstrate to the congregation that social justice is a central theme running throughout the whole Bible.  Particular emphasis is placed on the preaching of the prophets and Jesus' ministry of preaching and teaching.  A cross-section of the researcher's congregation was asked questions before the sermon series began, after each of the four social justice sermons, and after the whole series had been completed.  There was a discernible difference in the audience's opinions on why people are poor and in the audience's intention to change structural injustice. In addition, there was an increase in the respondents' ability to identify biblical texts that address social justice and an increase in their ability to apply biblical social justice to local, national, and global issues. This thesis states that multimedia presentations will be useful for reaching the 'electronic generations' in the post-literate world.  This project presented the same homily to four different university groups.  Two groups heard the homily and saw a simultaneous video presentation.  The other two heard only the oral/aural presentation.  The participants answered questionnaires, and two groups participated in focus group discussions.  Quantitative results were neutral, with a slight leaning in support of the thesis. This research project proposes the possibility that liturgical elements of worship can serve to connect these worldviews.  Worship theology, history, and practice are the basis for analyzing the worship practices in a particular congregation from modern and postmodern perspectives. The author, calling upon her own years of experience with and research in Twelve Step spirituality, as well as the work of historians and writers in the field, traces the origins of Alcoholics Anonymous in the Oxford Group and the New Testament teachings which were formative in Twelve Step principles and practice.  She discusses the controversy over the 'God as you understand him' concept. The author preached for two years in a congregation where the relational system of evil worked to weaken the preacher's relationship with the congregation and the unity of the congregation. Various styles of preaching were employed by the preacher. The topic of evil was directly addressed in sermons. The author measured the results by polling listeners anonymously, interviewing specific listeners and discerning if the congregation was living out its faith during that time. Churches need to practice the Eucharist in spaces other than church sanctuaries, and space in sanctuaries should be organized to embody meanings of the Eucharist. Churches should also embody in the Eucharist a Christian understanding and practice of time rather than an American time orientation. Through a process of theological reflection, based on experience, culture, and the church's tradition, the Christian faithful in a specific geographical context in Africa--the Igbo people of Nigeria--tell their own story of the Eucharist.
