What is the story of each respective organization from its beginning until the present? What are the challenges and struggles inherent in maintaining a focus on an original organizational mission statement? How do operational pressures such as changes in funding, shifts in cultural expectations, and unforeseen events, for example a natural disaster or a pandemic, affect the living out of the mission? Interviews with participating agencies are analyzed to search for commonalities among the agencies in the study, and to discern lessons to be learned from all of the agencies together. Recommendations are made for faith-based organizations seeking to be faithful to their founding mission in the face of the various changes and challenges they encounter."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860340429553664,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:24.239Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-05-09T18:54:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-09T18:54:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4d0105bf-9e73-4102-83db-b6e4ab094d7f","accessControl_ssim":["c52f73c7-64e9-4f4f-b064-85f58adb0624"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["dc627acd-bd01-468a-9eba-60cd1754f333"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["dc627acd-bd01-468a-9eba-60cd1754f333"],"depositor_ssim":["jgoodlet@fpclagrange.org"],"depositor_tesim":["jgoodlet@fpclagrange.org"],"title_tesim":["Teach A Child To Fish: How Adaptive Leadership Might Transform Local Church Mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-05-09T18:54:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-09T18:54:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["13e2789d-ff0a-43e4-949f-9530d9917921"],"hasLease_ssim":["59e36cf4-bef1-4fe9-940e-eee8657c37e1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Through a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative insights, the study examines the historical and contemporary perspectives on female authority in Islam. It highlights the significant contributions of Muslim women leaders from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to the present day, emphasizing their roles in commerce, political consultation, warfare, and education. The research identifies key factors that influence the recognition and actualization of women's leadership potential, including cultural norms, organizational structures, and interpretations of Islamic jurisprudence. The main research question is, ‘What are best practices for a missional approach to discipleship for the local church?’ Two additional questions are used to answer the main research question: (1) What are some of the major challenges these local churches encountered in their discipleship efforts? and (2) What lessons can be learned from the experience of these congregations when formulating a missional disciple-making strategy? To explore and answer the research question, a multiple case study methodology is employed. This method examines three evangelical churches in the Chicago area who embody a missional discipleship, using three different types of data collection. These include two focus groups at each church involving semi- structured qualitative interviews with small group leaders and participants, six participant observations of events these churches carried out for people in their communities, and a collection of documentary evidence. The data from this study was organized into findings and concluded with three emphases that can be implemented by churches in their discipleship practices. These include a profile of an authentic follower of Christ, implementing four processes that lead to disciple-making, and the desired outcomes of an authentic, spiritually mature follower of Christ, all leading to a missional approach to disciple-making."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720041719005184,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:59:40.509Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:49:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:52:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"67b221d0-34b1-476d-a057-084d358ce545","accessControl_ssim":["07663841-d16c-4ebc-862a-edfd74e36d34"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Bicultural liberative education : educating the non-poor in an urban work-study program"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:49:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:09:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ff4ae483-2930-42e6-b28d-d1528f9ec6f1"],"hasLease_ssim":["885b2fc3-6577-45be-9182-ce9c95e175db"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. These components are rendered most effective as the educator creates a trusting atmosphere of 'safe containment' which enables the learner to engage more deeply in cultural critique.Chapter Three describes how an 'experiential' seminar with the urban poor and a course on modern work combine to provide a specific context for BLE within a work-study program in Chicago. Chapter Four concludes the project by providing suggestive hints toward applications of BLE for the non-poor congregation, the seminary, and the poor congregation."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://repository.westernsem.edu/xmlui/handle/1866/1655"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135557832671232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:52:58.707Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":64,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
