Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom which provides a vision for how the world is meant to be and announces liberation from all that oppresses. The Roman Catholic Church of Chicago has the potential to be a sign and an instrument of the Kingdom, serving as a crucial and a powerful force in empowering poor people, stemming the tide of poverty in the metropolitan area. This study addresses the challenge of transforming the Campaign for Human Development from a successful director-centered, anti-poverty program into a dynamic movement among Catholic people. The founding vision needs recasting to serve as a catalyst for people of faith to work toward social transformation. Ideally, the transformed situation will be marked by the addition of more active leaders, all versed in the founding vision and its potential for change in today's church and world. The focus in this study is in phase one, that is, the development of leaders beginning to grow a vital campaign."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7eda0323-a6d9-4fe2-807a-22620dd389a5"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128653861486592,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:03:14.567Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:53:11Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:04:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cd4848b6-adcd-46a6-ba43-a3dd94639c28","accessControl_ssim":["e50ec6ba-39ed-492a-a424-d08b6ccdaf79"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Doing justice: the case for constitutional change"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:53:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:01:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["96d9d9aa-5061-400d-bd1e-b05e4f68c4e3"],"hasLease_ssim":["62bd5e91-d9f6-440b-abcb-7fea1792efd2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Anna Case-Winters"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lynne M Myers"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Social justice","Christian ethics","Church and the world"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A case is built for a theological principle and model of the church which declares that a presbytery can become a covenant community of justice and loyalty. As background, Chapter 2 offers an overview of machista and societal oppression which Hispanas have endured for centuries. Chapter 3 reviews models feminist scholars have offered for liberating biblical texts and stories from patriarchal oppression. The critical components explored are: denunciation, annunciation, proclamation, reclamation, and celebration. Chapter 4 describes the Hispanic women's church setting and presents a methodology for study and reflection. Chapter 5, the focus of the total project, examines the live of six biblical women who experienced the liberation of Jesus.
