The church has lacked sufficient teachers to cover the needs in the Sunday School classes. This project was designed to train six to eight persons as teachers for young people and adults. The areas of training chosen were the privileges and responsibilities of a Sunday School teacher, the revelation of the redemptive message of salvation, regional differences of the Spanish language and culture, basic methods of teaching, the organization of Sunday School classes, and characteristics of the adult and young people groups. Preparation for the project included research, writing of a prospectus, selection of materials, church planning, and enlistment of trainees. Implementation of the project covered a six-week period. The evaluation was conducted through the use of three kinds of questionnaires filled out by the trainees. They stated an improvement of their knowledge in all areas of study."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132502716317696,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:04:25.120Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:31:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:14:09Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1a477966-c27c-4be8-86a0-b050c6f34053","accessControl_ssim":["1fe1660e-10a5-450b-a0e7-55ab6530ea36"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The role of the Spanish ministry in the delivery of pastoral care to the Spanish community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:31:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:54:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a3ff5825-6e1d-4179-81a2-6dae348ff8b5"],"hasLease_ssim":["fb414f61-c1ee-4e1e-ba12-d4d46fff11d9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Henry C Brooks"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"location_tesim":["New Hampshire"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Abel Vilcapoma"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Spanish Americans","Church history","Biculturalism","Pastoral theology","Maslow, Abraham H (Abraham Harold)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project studies the historical, cultural, social, economic, linguistic and intellectual roots of the problems which inhibit the self-actualization of the Spanish minority in Anglo society. There are about 9 million Mexican-Americans and 2 million Puerto Ricans in the US. Both Hispanic groups are at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder, and face discrimination, unemployment, poor housing and low educational achievement. Puerto Ricans on the mainland appear to have a higher incidence of mental illness than Mexican-Americans. Mexican-Americans tend to be more acculturated and live in less stressful conditions than Puerto Ricans. There is a high rate of underutilization of mental health services by Hispanics. The shortage of Hispanic-American priests is an obstacle to strong Hispanic leadership in the Roman Catholic Church. Protestant Hispanics are mostly evangelical in theology and conservative in life-style with little involvement in socio-political action. There are almost no pastoral psychology programs to train Hispanic leaders in pastoral counseling and chaplaincy. The church must work toward better socio-economic conditions for Hispanics and develop programs to train Hispanic leadership."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133435154137088,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:19:14.363Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
