The goal is not to isolate the therapeutic benefits of the spiritual disciplines, but to grow in godliness.  Doctoral classes and library research were combined to create an eight-session class which focused first on intimacy and spiritual intimacy.  The remaining six sessions dealt with the spiritual disciplines of the Word, meditative prayer, simplicity, forgiveness, service and worship. The project was designed to test the thesis that the church can experience revival whenever the members are willing to employ these means which God has provided.  The project was implemented at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, Dallas, TX, over the course of a ten-week period.  The project consisted of four primary phases which included: 1) a workshop on spiritual discipline, evangelism and faith-sharing; 2) six weeks of weekly class meetings; 3) church-wide days of consecration; and 4) revival worship services.  The findings of the study support the thesis that revival can be promoted through use of the aforementioned means. Data was collected from interviews of twenty pastors.  Content analysis was then applied to the interviews to evaluate surface patterns, shared experiences, uniquenesses, etc.  Some problem areas such as professional versus personal, schedule demands, personality factors, and a mechancial approach to spiritual disciplines are discussed. Subjects were pre-tested and post-tested for frequency of practice of four spiritual disciplines (solitude, meditation, study and service) and spiritual well-being (SWB) using Ellison's SWB scale. Subjects were instructed in a thirteen-week course on those disciplines.  Differences on pre- and post-test scores were observed to evaluate the effect of changes in frequency of practice and SWB responses.
