The project included research of the spiritual discipline of prayer and contemporary spiritual formation methodologies.  This research led to the design, administration, and evaluation of training sessions with the selected leaders.  Training included seven weekly didactic sessions on various dimensions of individual and corporate prayer, with additional assignments between sessions.  Participants assessed assigned readings  and maintained a journal throughout the process with assigned entries germane to the subject matter.  An eighth and final session assessed the participants' mastery of the subject matter and summarized the project material. The intent of this process was to equip the participants to lead the embryonic congregation in the arena of prayer, fostering a culture in which prayer is understood, valued, and practiced. Material used by parents to teach biblical truths and spiritual disciplines to their children was researched and used to create materials for the parents.  The group of parents received workshop materials, sample curriculum to be taught at home, and instructions on how to develop spiritual disciplines. The training materials were introduced in a workshop format spanning the course of several weeks. So many Christians do not experience the peace joy and love of Jesus because they do not have that point of connection with Jesus. Spiritual Disciplines are the greatest means to grow in intimacy and relationship with Jesus Christ. As a result, eleven various Spiritual Disciplines were presented to First Baptist Church, Alexandria, Indiana. The disciplines included in this project were: Journaling, service, bible reading, celebration, meditation, silence and solitude, confession, prayer, worship, fasting, and fellowship. The Spiritual Disciplines were presented to the church through preaching and Sunday School.
