A prison sentence affords women time to reflect on their lives and accept the salvation that Jesus Christ offers. This curriculum emphasized issues of self-worth, abuse, forgiveness, the development of a biblically accurate view of God, guidance toward spiritual maturity and a plan for continued relationship with Christ after parole. This dissertation examines the following: an overview of spiritual growth for individuals and churches, online tools for personal growth, and online environments created by local churches for Internet users. The project then continues with an explanation of research procedure and an argument for the legitimacy of the case study method. He then reports the research formulated by the case studies. All three churches studied are rather large in size, each of them differs in culture and structure. However, there are commonalities in how their online environments facilitate spiritual growth, which supports the hypothesis. To counteract this immaturity, he designed 'Changing Christian Hearts and Lives,' group study material that offers a practical way for the Korean church to overcome this difficulty. This research project facilitates the engagement of inner work on the part of the Christian leader using a formational process that includes spiritual direction meetings, group meetings, and classroom lectures. The process is guided by a theologically grounded model that consists of four domains: attention to God image, self-identity, spiritual practices, and ministry development. Material was developed to teach about spiritual formation. The first ten chapters of the book were developed into a ten-week group experience. Each week the participants read and meditated on the text, then discussed it through questions that were drafted by the author. The effectiveness of the ten-week series was measured by giving questionnaires at the beginning and end of the series. It surveys the faith stories of seven evangelical leaders and their sons from the mid-twentieth century to the present. It also surveys the canon of scripture to see how the baton of faith is passed or not passed from fathers to sons. Using an author-developed questionaire, the seven case studies were evaluated in the areas of conversion experience, subsequent challenges to faith, and relationship between fathers and sons. In addition this research examines father/son relationships through the entire canon of scripture. The top 3 'preventable' causes identified were: interpersonal problems with peers (other missionaries/colleagues); inner personal problems; and immature spiritual life. The focus of this thesis project is to show how the Great Commandment directly addresses the issues raised by the ReMAP 1 survey. The project delineates how the Great Commandment passages provide a spirituality that guides a missionary in their spiritual formation process. The Great Commandment provides 'cardinal points' like those of a compass that serves to orient a missionary in the midst of the challenges he or she faces. This determination will be made by interviewing and recording their responses to questions that are both open-ended and close-ended. Following this interview process, the author also interviewed a smaller sample from other local churches. A comparison of the responses helped the author determine how much of the New Covenant theology has been grasped and its effect on people's spiritual maturation. The results were encouraging and varied greatly between the two sample groups. The author explores several roadblocks to spiritual formation such as functional Deism, family of origin issues, Old Covenant ministry practices, and the basic principles of the world, in an attempt to discover an effective way to deal with thsoe obstacles. He presents a theological backdrop for pastoral ministry that places relationship with God at the heart of the narrative, reviews writings of Gregory of Nyssa, Bernard of Clarvaux, Jonathan Edwards, and surveys germane material from neurobiology and attachmetn theorists.
