It focuses specifically on a preacher's life, context, and congregation and God's work in each of these areas.Chapter 1 serves as the introduction to this portfolio. Chapter 2 offers My Personal Preaching Identity, which describes my own identity and transformation as a preacher, my sense of call, spiritual gifting, and theological tradition. It contains my theology of preaching, which has been informed by my personal experiences as well as course work, readings, and mentors drawn from church history. Chapter 3, My Preaching Context, describes the congregation I serve, North Park Community Church, as well as the broader community setting and city. This background was used to propose a preaching strategy and a yearly preaching menu that would meaningfully and appropriately address this unique congregation. My Preaching Field Project, found in chapter 4, is a personalized preaching project implemented in my home church to determine the impact that the preaching is having on the spiritual transformation of a certain demographic of our church. The results identified a transformative impact on this demographic but also revealed some important learnings for preachers about the content and delivery of the sermon. Christian parents are to impress God's commands on their children so the next generation might come to know, love, and serve Him (Deut 6:6-7). Jesus charges the church to make disciples, baptize, and teach others to obey his commands (Matt 28:19-20), yet, spiritual formation is not the target it should be for most Christian families and the American church. The literature reveals a general lack in understanding of the biblical worldview in Christians across generations, and thus, believers lack confidence and motivation to share God’s worldview with others. This study sought to evaluate the effectiveness of a workshop designed to address transformation in the comprehension, commitment, and intended conduct of participants to train others to the biblical worldview. Statistical analysis revealed participants changed in understanding, confidence, and motivation toward engaging in further growth to the biblical worldview and training others to it. Anecdotal information gathered from comments on the post-training survey provided additional evidence of the above, as well as qualitative evidence demonstrating participants changed in their commitment to share God’s truth with others and planned for future change in this “commissioned” area for Christ.The workshop effectively addressed the lack of intentionality about growing in and sharing the biblical worldview with others. Churches are not immune to the lack of “the abilitysimply to be alone with our thoughts.” In fact, it would seem that the church, whose textis the Bible, must go further to break through the endless distractions of the day to hearthe voice of God in the scriptures.the church began a journey with international refugees whentwenty-five children and adults from the nation of Burundi came to church on a LaborDay weekend. This started a mini-influx of folks from various parts of the world. Thechurch has discovered a new sense of purpose and excitement as there are folks present inworship from five continents. The worship of Epiphany is also both ancient and future,focusing on the best of classical hymnology and contemporary worship within theworship of the Book of Common Prayer. Participants found themselves at critical junctures in their spiritual development - seeking, exploring, even questioning - how spirituality plays a role in their overall well-being. The project collected both qualitative and quantitative data through a chaplain interventionist. The chaplain met 1:1 with participants to share strategies for increasing everyday coping and self-efficacy. The participants found spiritual care to be necessary and helpful as they navigated their daily lives and sickle cell disease. Luke","Theology, Practical","Spiritual formation","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["By guiding participants to reflect on scripture and their life experiences through the creation of art in various mediums, this project was designed to teach a model of creative, theological reflection in order to provide artists at Immanuel Baptist Church in Paducah, KY with the opportunity to deepen their creative identity, to claim their identity as people who are created in the image of a creative and creating God, and to form meaningful community through shared, creative practices.Participants gathered for seven weeks to visually and creatively reflect on themes of home and community in scripture as a way to practice creative placemaking. By sharing stories, practicing lectio divina, and creating art together, the artists were invited on an inward journey that encouraged theological reflection as an embodied, creative process rather than simply an intellectual exercise. There exists an understanding that the church will provide a time and space for regular, meaningful worship to occur, as well as an expectation that the people will attend and engage, open to an encounter with God, alongside their brothers and sisters in Christ. This study investigates the latter responsibility - that of the people to fully participate in worship that gives worth to God, listens to God, and responds to God. In this project, volunteers from First Baptist Church Greenville, SC, engaged with specially designed pre-worship guides to measure the value of intentional preparation for worship. The project director researched the fields of apologetics for youth and children and Christian doctrine to determine essential Christian worldview formation skills. He developed a curriculum in order to equip the selected parents of East Louisville Baptist Church with those essential Christian worldview formation skills. The curriculum was taught in six sessions and corresponds with five doctrines the project director established as most essential for Christian worldview formation. The project director increased his knowledge in the areas of apologetic, Christian worldview formation, and curriculum designs to ensure that the six teaching sessions represented a high standard of quality. The first part of the project was to investigate the field of a Christian worldview and its impact on discipleship. Subsequently, once the investigation was completed, the project director identified six central doctrines for a Christian worldview essential to move forward to the next step, which consisted in the design of a Christian worldview curriculum that was imparted to the group for six weeks to the selected local church leaders. The project director used the quipping model to complete this project. The project director started the project by researching the field of spiritual formation in order to identify foundational components. Then he wrote a curriculum he could use to equip selected adults of his church. Finally, in a two-day seminar, he equipped seven adults to develop a personal spiritual formation map.Over the course of completing his project, the project director increased his knowledge of the foundational components of spiritual formation and increased his skill of curriculum writing.
