Information was acquired through various surveys and personal interviews. Included are: a personal ministry profile and a composite of  Manchester and the surrounding areas; a biblical and theological basis for the project by topically addressing the challenges of adolescence; discussion of the various obstacles to Christian growth that are encountered by adolescents from a theoretical and practical perspective; a descriptive of the training; and a theological and personal reflection upon the project. It looked at how they changed as a result of that practice.  The Christian spiritual participation profile was used to measure the balance of and depth of participation in: their experience with God, their critical reflection of culture and self, their interaction with God's Word, and their relationship with others. Together the director and strategic leadership team developed a strategy for discipling adults at Anthony Grove. Six sermons on personal relationship with God, uniqueness in Christ, commitment to the church, and hope for the future of the church, were prepared and preached. The select members were given evaluations to determine the extent to which they perceived these sermons to effect specific aspects of spiritual formation. The research question is to determine the extent to which students who took the 'minister's spiritual life' course increased in spiritual maturity. Two instruments were developed to measure this: a qualitative focus group study and a quantitative survey. These examined whether the course: enabled them to recognize their hindrances, assisted in overcoming them, helped develop a plan to mature spiritually, and motivated them to implement their plan. The method of study was qualitative, using a small group structure of four pastors in the United Methodist tradition.  It applied the use of interview, journal, and questionnaire.  The results showed a marked improvement in the perceived awareness of one's felt presence with God.
