This project studies the factors involved in the healing process of victims of spiritual abuse as well as ideas from systems theory as to what factors contribute to an abusive, toxic church. The author uses a qualitative research approach and utilizes the tools of a questionnaire and interviews with nine victims of spiritual abuse in Southern Baptist churches. The book of consolation in Isaiah is used as a biblical base for understanding a theology of hope and healing from oppressive circumstances. One outcome of this study is a change model entitled 'The process of healing from spiritual abuse' which involves the phases of oppression, transition, and restoration. The study concludes that resiliency is the outcome of healing. A person who heals will rebound with new vitality and depth in their relationship with the Lord."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132379519123456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:02:27.631Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:53:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:36:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"61336ef6-b786-4a9f-bcbc-28d16549dfaa","accessControl_ssim":["5419bc2c-d147-4f7b-a1de-1f812e96c14f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A forgiveness curriculum: facilitating emotional, relational, and spiritual healing through group process"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:53:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:58:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cfa58d4e-2dcf-4eac-83ac-7f7ac17431ef"],"hasLease_ssim":["f9e44e2a-e108-449c-9c1e-4529ad09201f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Terry Wardle"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Laura Jean Tradowsky"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christian education of adults","Spiritual healing","Forgiveness"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop an eight-week small-group based curriculum for Christian adults on forgiveness that supplements the Healing Care Groups material equipping leaders to better facilitate the emotional, relational and spiritual healing of group participants.
