This study focuses on the relevant issues, resources, and experiences which led to the implementation of basic communities in a particular parish.  This  thesis is biographical in style as it tells the story of a people, a parish, and a process that gave birth to smaller communities of faith. Considerable attention is given to the core group who was primarily responsible for the study and formation of the base communities. A ten part sermon series was developed and delivered on the following disciplines: inner life, prayer, confession, reading and journaling, Bible study, meditation, devotional life, fasting, personal worship, and ministry. Sermons were reinforced through distribution of outlines and worksheets as well as through the encouragement of additional reading. Comparison of before and after surveys revealed substantial improvement in the practice of the disciplines. The study includes a comparative analysis of the psychology of Carl Jung and the spirituality of John of the Cross.  The integrative approach of the model incorporates the intrapsychic, interpersonal, and transpersonal dimensions of the human personality.  The model can be adapted for use in different ministries, although this project focuses on the ministry of pastoral counseling.  The qualitative study yielded some initial insights that are tentative and inconclusive. Congregational projects and a questionnaire provide research resources.
