It was hoped that research would determine religious education would raise one's level of faith maturing and in effect bring about a higher level of church development. A survey was conducted on twelve (12) subjects of the Third Mt Zion Baptist Church of Caroline County. The subjects were evaluated through the use of two instruments: Margaret G Alter's Christian experience inventory, and Peter Benson's research project on faith maturity. The research hypothesis explored the differences between horizontal and vertical faith, and the Christian experience inventory. However, the CEI instrument proved to be more helpful in measuring faith maturity in five areas: trust in God, growth in faith, experience of cost of faith, concern for others, and justification of faith. These areas give one a better understanding of where the subjects are in relation to their spiritual development, and opens the gate towards developing a small church through religious education."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126041209602048,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:21:42.948Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:33:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:49:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c613908f-ba24-44c7-921f-e687d982d556","accessControl_ssim":["95d5259a-fb56-425f-a424-a1bfa930cc0e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Devotional life pattern and personality type: a study in spiritual well-being"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:33:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:49:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d4bc136d-5a76-4fed-8927-3596d5880b24"],"hasLease_ssim":["1cfb72f0-c45d-49c0-be4d-35937e95341b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN)"],"advisor_tesim":["Nils C Friberg"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bruce A Richardson"],"publisher_tesim":["Bethel Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Typology (Psychology)","Spiritual life--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This case study examines the relationship between the self-understanding and the devotional life pattern of eight Christians using an intentionally personalized approach to devotional life development. Based on questionnaire responses and parish intervention discussions, the paper maintains that preaching, with the intent of fostering spiritual growth for all members in the Anglo-Hispanic parish setting, will be a more effective tool toward this end if it is attentive to differences in the understanding of spirituality."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133731870736384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:23:57.334Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:13:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:16:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"077b0264-0529-4f9a-98a9-dc0fdeec278b","accessControl_ssim":["95a24008-9756-4640-9000-ac18399b8b7a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Living in Christian community: women's role in the spiritual community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:13:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:20:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["daf73a28-30c9-4fb4-aede-33411970ad47"],"hasLease_ssim":["f043fd38-cfc3-4773-92ea-43c983cdc2b6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Patricia E Johnson"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Interpersonal relations","Community--Religious aspects","Christian communities","Spiritual life--Christianity","Women--Religious life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this paper is to explore women's spirituality and role in various religious communities and settings, through a variety of readings, interviews and personal experiences. Research on the various denominations shows the different ways humans, particularly women, express their relationship with God and each other and how that is worked out in their lives individually and in community. The denominations studied are: Roman Catholics, Mennonites, Hutterites, Shakers and Quakers. The crunch and crisis of daily living is taking its toll on the religious as well as the non-religious. This adult study manual is designed to achieve two goals. First, there is a non-technical description of the dynamics of stress and its impact on the human body, mind, and spirit. Second, the material helps the reader understand that a practical application of Christian principles aids the prevention of chronic stress and promotion of mental health. The basic theological assumption is that the Christian faith is an absolute necessity for restoring human wholeness and wellness, and that Christian education is a practical means of promoting mental hygiene. The primary thrust of the manual is to demonstrate that as believers rely upon resources of divine power and apply the practical 'life principles' exemplified and taught by Jesus Christ, they receive grace, wisdom, and strength from God to emerge as victors rather than victims."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f245891-e4c1-47d9-842b-9aefbafae138"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135367490961408,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:49:57.183Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:03:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:19:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"43da2a91-ff0b-40f9-ac96-4dda0766a938","accessControl_ssim":["3ddc59aa-c465-4249-bc69-46b9b16c7b8e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Spirituality: the search for a full active life"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:03:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:06:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e1406f2d-f6c6-408c-85ba-cec2a815cfa6"],"hasLease_ssim":["9a170250-b7e1-49e9-b109-72873a97d91a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Jay C Rochelle"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul C Walker"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Spiritual life--Christianity","Storytelling--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Spirituality is life, the feeling, breathing, touching of the soul. A spiritual person is alive, attuned to every aspect of life. In my thesis I tell my story, the story of others and that of a congregation. Telling our stories is important. If I am going to be spiritually effective as a healing pastor I need to share my journey of pain and hope, of struggle and joy. If a group of people is to be effective as a congregation, its members must be comfortable in sharing their stories. Their journeys are the bricks and mortar which unify, and in their unity there lies a great potential for
