Conclusions are drawn from a survey of works on the critical factors that contribute to the process of spiritual formation. Spiritual formation is 'being alive to God' and 'being like God.' That is, a person undergoing spiritual formation grows in intimacy, love, devotion and knowledge of God and becomes more like God in his thoughts, emotions, desires and behavior. The basic factors in this process are: (1) what God has done for the believer, (2) what God has made possible for him/her, and (3) how a Christian responds to what God has done and made possible for him/her. These factors are rooted in God's sovereign grace. God makes spiritual formation possible and works with his people as they go through the process of spiritual formation. This two credit hour academic course on spiritual formation has been developed for undergraduate students at a Christian university. Students will gain valuable knowledge regarding spiritual formation and experience training that is critical for a lifestyle that makes spiritual formation possible. The purpose concerned understanding the state of spiritual formation practices among the missionaries as well as discerning the measure of influence they exert on the three aforementioned dimensions of missionary life. The project utilized the Spiritual Well Being Scale developed by Ellison and Paloutzian and a researcher-designed instrument to gather the information for statistical analysis and correlations. The results indicated that the practice of regular spiritual disciplines definitely influence spiritual well-being within the population of missionaries of Greater Europe Mission. However, with regard to perceived ministry effectiveness and retention, the results were mixed and only a weak relationship was indicated, which was insufficient to meet the criteria of this study for a valid correlation. Baisas, OFM, as a staring point. He delved deeply into the type of spirituality that they have embraced in living their respective religious vocations in the Philippines. These were then respectfully and critically put into dialogue with the Philippine realities and the Christian tradition on religious life, mysticism, prophecy and contextualization using the insights of Sandra Schneiders, IHM, Aloysisu Pieris, SJ, Stephen Bevans, SVD, and the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines, respectively. The said dialogue used a personally-designed model and method in theological reflection in ministry patterned after those of James Whitehead and Evelyn Eaton Whitehead, as well as that of Bernard Lonergan, SJ. The result is the formation of a description of a contextual mystico-prophetic spirituality as a relevant form of spirituality for religious in the Philippines and an elaboration of some of its characteristic features. The project used a varied methodology including library and proactive qualitative and quantitative research. Qualitative research included videotaped sections oft he spiritual formation program in a local church and participants' journals of the experiences of praying with pets over the same period of time. The qualitative research, a survey to assess individuals' prayer frequency and their openness for integrating animals into spiritual practices was administered in three churches. The objective was to develop a deeper personal relationship with God and one another by becoming more attentive to God. The team was guided through one action research cycle using the spiritual practices of silence and solitude, reflection and journaling, prayer and Lectio Divina for twenty weeks. Data was gathered through written narratives and group interviews and analyzed by qualitative methods. The research indicated that through intentional fostering of individual intimacy with God, an ardent team emerged to corporately provide more discerning spiritual leadership. The author served as spiritual director for nine individuals over ten weeks as they engaged practices of prayer, silence, the Jesus Prayer, inner purification and detachment, and awareness of and insight into their thoughts. Evaluative methods included surveys, field notes, and participants' journals. The Project Director designed curriculum to demonstrate this idea, and tested it on a group of six Christian artists in Marin County, California. The project followed the activities and progress of the group, both in their production of art and in their spiritual development. The participating artists provided feedback through instruments employed by the director to measure their development and how that development grew out of their collaborative art. The project result shows the effectiveness of such curriculum, both for the participants in this project, and for those who may use the curriculum in the
