Four classes incorporated blessing based spiritual nurture elements: creating sacred space, hospitality, holy listening, building community, prayer, and Bible study. Through classes and methods of spiritual awareness, participants showed, from pre-test to post-test, significant change in understanding and moving Christian principles into praxis. A participant's guide was developed by the researcher and was integral for the project. Qualitative and quantitative research methods included pre-assessment and post-assessment questionnaires, personal interviews, various inventories, researcher observation, dialogue, reflection tools, vocabulary tests, and discernment. To maximize long-term retention, active learning engaged experiential metaphors and embodied practices. Confirmation content (scriptural, historical, denominational and congregational) became stories which were part of the teens' own spiritual journey and story as they confirmed their baptism. The goal was to improve the quality of 'spiritual' life of the participants through a primary focus of 'spiritual painting' accompanied by prayer, meditation, and Bible story reading. Most of the participants suffered from either or both mental and physical disability. Even though normal communication and activity participation was somewhat limited, meaningful qualitative and quantitative assessments were obtained. Given partnerships between churches and communities seldom exist; Ivanhoe implemented a teaching/learning context in partnership with other institutions to equip youth to deal with social, economic and spiritual challenges threatening their well-being and productivity. A qualitative approach using participatory observation, surveys, journaling, and spiritual formation lessons and activities was utilized. The hypothesis states that spiritually empowered youth internalize God's love and develop spiritual discipline and self-control needed to transcend and transform racial, social, and economic constraints. The first part of the project is based on library research. The second is interviewing and analyzing other pastors in the Korean American church and congregation.  Because of conflicts and splits, the Korean American church is unhealthy and too weak to lead society and young people despite the church's great growth. Both pastors and congregations need to renew their understanding of the relationships that cause conflicts and splits leading to a spiritual maturity and the idea of a vital community. The Korean American church must practice new spirituality initiating and sustaining interdependent relationships internally and externally. Spiritual assessment occurred while providing pastoral care through emotional support and active listening. Considered along with the medical and psychological assessments, a holistic understanding and treatment of the patient was achieved. A greater sense of healing, harmony of body, mind and spirit was achieved. It looked at how they changed as a result of that practice.  The Christian spiritual participation profile was used to measure the balance of and depth of participation in: their experience with God, their critical reflection of culture and self, their interaction with God's Word, and their relationship with others. In my project I shut off the television for two months in order to gain more margin in time to impact these vital relationships. I recorded my findings in three separate journals. While my motives and priorities were the driving force behind my time use and impacted my relationships more than anything else, having the television off created the margin in time to search out the core motives that drive busyness.
