The theological foundation for the study is grounded in a trinitarian understanding of humankind as created in the image of God. To obtain the data, Ellison and Paloutzian's Spiritual Well-Being Scale (© 1982) was used in conjunction with a research-designed Attitudes Regarding Sexuality Questionnaire. Data were colllected from a convenient sample. Analysis of the results is limited by a small sample size. A sample 120 members of Murray Hill participated in a host of prayer initiatives to deepen the life of prayer within the ongoing life of the church.  Metanoia then examined fifteen heart attitudes that grow out of the life of prayer as related to church health. The thesis is introduced  by examining the theological meaning and importance of the doctrines of justification and sanctification as pillar doctrines undergirding any true model of Christian spirituality. A brief history of the theological development of these doctrines is provided, as well as the views that Edwards held on these matters. The first chapter then proceeds to examine Edwards as a man. A brief biographical sketch is provided, followed by an exploration of Edwards as a pastor-theologian. The work then seeks to assess the influence of Edwards upon his contemporaries and the contemporary church. The second chapter looks at Edwards' theology of God's glory as seen in his Dissertation concerning the end for which God created the world. Chapter Three investigates Edwards' theology of Christian spirituality as seen in his Treatise concerning religious affections. The transition is then made to the practical ramifications of the truths of Edwards' theology by the development of an Edwardsean model of Christian spirituality. Air Force","Spiritual life--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project utilizes small groups to encourage spiritual growth and care for one another as a strategy for ministry with young singles in the United States Air Force.  Chaplains and laity received small group ministry training at the Air Force Singles Conference.  Surveys conducted immediately before and after the training disclosed a positive shift in their attitude toward small groups as an effective means of providing spiritual care and stimulating spiritual growth. This project guided the sisters through a spiritual autobiography with questions which dealt with every phase of their lives.  In nine weekly sessions they shared their memories and stories with a group of twelve. Spiritual health is defined through biblical research and indexed by five factors (sound doctrine, effective ministry, functional body life, spiritual sensitivity, and perseverance) with associated vital signs. Contemporary literature on spiritual health and its measurement are analyzed. A survey based on the five vital signs is designed and field-tested in local churches.
