This project taught an approach to couple prayer utilizing the communication skills previously learned in Couple Communication I combined with the Prayer of Examen as a means of reducing defensiveness in couples as they share and pray together about their growing awareness of God. Twelve Christian married couples participated in a twelve week program involving group sessions and homework. This study measured whether there was an increase in marital satisfaction, spiritual well-being and self differentiation. However, household worship is often absent from contemporary Christian culture in America. This thesis made a case for the effect and benefit of household worship on the spiritual well-being of those who practice it. Twenty-six people representing eighteen households led household worship for eight weeks. Leaders in each household met together for instruction and support. These leaders took the Spiritual Well-being Scale before and after implementing household worship. Trusting in Jesus, the Son of God, facing inner darkness, and repenting humbly for one's sin are the key to good mental health. Pastors, elders, and deacons are the representatives of God on Earth . If we do not live out the aroma of Christ, we would gradually pitch our tents toward evil and start believing that we are like God as reflected through our action and speech. From self-righteousness, we would step by step tread into Satan's boundary. This conclusion was confirmed by a careful study of revival history and of pertinent scripture passages.  This dissertation is written about revival from a Congregational perspective, focusing on individuals of Congregational persuasion who have been used as leaders in revival history and Congregational churches which have been impacted by the results of revival experiences. The author maintains that through united prayer, God offers the opportunity to achieve progress which will not occur through any other means.  After examining biblical precedents for praying together in the Old and New Testaments, including the life of Jesus and the practice of the early church, this work assesses the challenge of maintaining a practical balance between prayer and action in the life of the church and individual believers.
