The educational setting emphasizes storytelling and examination of domestic rituals.  Participants also created worship-centered rituals enacting these life themes.  The paper examines power relationships as sources of value, understanding and the ability to act.  It discusses ritual theory and practice. The goal of the study was to find ways to assist patients with these life threatening diseases to move from places of anxiety and worry to places of peace, healing, and wholeness.  The researcher found that story was the common element in the interventions that were most effective fro these patients.
