The researcher asserts that GenXers relate to organized religion much differrently than previous generations shaped by modernity.  The project began with an extensive review of literature.  A 31 item questionnaire was administered to 32 students in the College of Education.  Student responses were either slightly above or below the median response for each question.  No statistically significant correlation was found to suggest the proposed hypothesis. Theoretical foundations to the project include a taxonomy of biblical humor, an overview of humor in the Bible, theological parameters for the use of humor, pedagogical benefits of humor usage, and personality dynamics impacting the delivery and reception of humor. After a series of sermons from humorous texts, hearers of various personality types were tested to assess awareness of biblical humor and the achievement of pedagogical benefits. It also includes an assessment of existing programming of the Southern Baptist Convention North American Mission Board International Ministries at UH, and suggestions for future ministry strategies. The purpose of the research is to find out if, and why, students from varying geographic regions and/or cultures respond differently to the person of Jesus Christ and Christianity in general. What influences their attitudes toward Christianity? What factors attract them toward or deflect them away from Christianity? This project assumes that the mission of the church is to witness God's love to people in ways that are appropriate to their stage and condition of life.  The research for this study uses the grounded theory method of research.  Sixty students on campuses near Charlotte, North Carolina were interviewed.  Conclusions from the research include specific suggestions for people who minister to students during the college years.
