The project examines how one church successfully designed and implemented a ministry of listening that acknowledges cultural realities and is grounded in a theology of pastoral care. This ministry integrates new members into the life of the congregation and keeps longtime members connected to pastoral care. Through historical research, a thesis was developed that direct mail and telemarketing were suitable methods for prospect identification.  A program was developed to involve church members in mailing letters and making telephone calls to new homeowners and residents who lived within two miles of the church.
